Moiré Turntable - Kinetic Kit
I may have been a little drunk with the warm reception to my previous project (it was featured on Maker Update! 😻), so I decided to explore something in the same vein.
And I thought: if 2 screens are good, why not try 3? I'll admit my planning here wasn't great, I designed the little platform with it's neat keyed holders and left the testing of the patterns for end, and I was a little underwhelmed by the results 😩.
But since I got that far I decided to go ahead and make a short video. I didn't make any kits for sale because I think the previous Moiré Play Kit is a much better implementation of this idea, but I did make the customizable project files available because I think there are a couple of neat things about it. Overall this one felt a bit like a failure but maybe I need a little distance from it.
The new triangular pattern was probably the best part about this, but then again it works better with the previous project:
Something else I made this week that I did like very much was this sketchbook spread, so I'm going to leave you with it. I outlined the figures with a multicolored lead pencil and then colored it in with watercolors. Loose, playful, a little weird, sometimes it's nice to go there:
