Hand Painted Zine, Part 14

Last month I didn't get to finish a watercolor page because I got distracted by the warm-up pencil drawings. But this time I took one of those and with a few modifications I turned into a proper watercolor painting.
The video above shows the process of tracing it digitally. I decided to leave out the two faces on the top left corner and replace them with a small morphing pattern. Here is the original:


The gist is that you take a polygon and draw lines (in blue) that start from the midpoints of the sides, and meet at a specific angle, as you vary the angle you get stars with different characters. Like this:




Painting
Things were already vectors at this point to I transferred them to watercolor paper with the trusty Axidraw pen plotter and proceeded to apply layers of paint in 10 minute increments.



Anyway, I can't believe it's March already! It has been an eventful year. Please try your best to stay sane.
