Architectural Monster 4/4

So I finished the last of the architectural monsters, and since it was the fourth one I went with a theme of squares (although it has 3 heads š¤). To complete things I decided to dedicate one short post to this piece, even though it feels like an addendum to the previous one (Kinetic Pieces Annotated).

Ā The most elaborate part here was the crankshaft, which is that zigzag component that turns rotating motion into reciprocal motion for the 3 "heads".

In this build I also used those oil embedded sleeve bearingsĀ i mentioned last time to make the rotation really smooth.

I want to get back to the watercolor zine but this month I didn't manage to finish a full page. I've been experimenting with these Escher-Style morphing patterns that I want to incorporate into a full illustration, here is an example of a sketchbook page:
