Architectural Monster 4/4

So I finished the last of the architectural monsters, and since it was the fourth one I went with a theme of squares (although it has 3 heads 🤔). To complete things I decided to dedicate one short post to this piece, even though it feels like an addendum to the previous one (Kinetic Pieces Annotated).

 The most elaborate part here was the crankshaft, which is that zigzag component that turns rotating motion into reciprocal motion for the 3 "heads".

In this build I also used those oil embedded sleeve bearings i mentioned last time to make the rotation really smooth.

I want to get back to the watercolor zine but this month I didn't manage to finish a full page. I've been experimenting with these Escher-Style morphing patterns that I want to incorporate into a full illustration, here is an example of a sketchbook page:
