Metal Band Logos for Things that aren't Metal Bands

I've been a lover of metal music since I was a teenager. And, naturally, I love the unreadable absurdity of metal band logos. The symmetry, the drippiness, the black and white aesthetic. I drew tons of things inspired by metal in my high school notebooks and later in my sketchbooks. Even though I'm no Christophe Szpajdel I've tried my hand at a few logos for things that aren't strictly metal bands. Here is a small collection.

Around 2011 I was part of camp that wanted to bring more metal music to the playa. It started as a joke but there was a hunger for it so we made it into a theme. Every day at noon we would serve black cold brew coffee and play a one hour set of metal as loud as we could, hence the name of the camp: black coffee, "cafe negro" in Spanish. I made this very inky logo for the event:

Though I'm not vegan I always though my vegan friends were pretty metal so I made this design for a t-shirt. I'm still a fan of the Emperor inspired "G"

Back in 2014 I spent some time in Atlanta, near the Little 5 Points neighborhood, and some dear friends introduced me to the Porter Beer Bar. Around that time they had printed a metal themed t-shirt that was Slayer inspired, but with a name like "The Porter" I thought something more death metal was in order, so I drew this as a gift for their 6th birthday:

They used it to print some really nice hoodies and they generously gave me one. They wanted a beer related badge on the front so I designed the hop flower with wheat stalks arranged to suggest pentagram.

The two that follow are for a couple of bicycle projects by Jimmy Lizama. The first one is for the "Bicicrófono" which a bicycle trailer and karaoke jig all in one.

And this one was for his cargo bike building project called Reciclos (on IG at la_reciclos). They wanted a colorful version for a t-shirt so we went for a yellow background and some red splatter. I'm a fan of black and white but I do like the texture and viciousness of the lines on this one.
