Imaginary Furniture

The printed zines arrived just in time for this month's update! I'm very pleased with the way they turned out. I did the cover and inside pages in a matte paper that has a little bit of tooth to it and it complements the textures I used for the backgrounds. The colors are rather bright too.
You might be wondering about the title since there is not a lot of furniture in the drawings (there are a few pieces here and there). Honestly, I wrote that sentence in my sketchbook sometime last year as an idea for a future project, but I kept coming back to it when thinking about how a name for this zine.
The imaginative nature of the drawings made me think about the way we "furnish" the spaces of the mind. Some of these objects might not be related to real, earthly furniture, but might just be concepts, or mind scapes. Hence furniture of the mind or imaginary furniture. Also I might just do an Imaginary Furniture 2 with more chairs and tables and the like in the future.
Additionally I feel like repeat patterns are a form of furniture in the way one can use them for context, or to give shape to certain elements. Here is an example of that, I made a funky pattern for the color sections of this drawing and I'll show it to you here although I didn't print it in the finished image:

The main, blocky part of the drawing was also "couched" on a different pattern more commonly known as an isometric grid:

Patterns upon patterns I suppose. Patterns as furniture of the imagination.
The workflow for going between drawing and print was particularly easy this time. In Procreate (the iPad app I used to draw these things) I set my canvas size to 5.5" to 8.5" with a DPI of 600 and exported one PDF file per page, then uploaded those to the printing service I used. I like it when it is that simple, I didn't use any other programs for the layout.

It's still available here (sold) and a nice 4 minute making-of video came out of it as I got all fancy with the wood inlays.
The zines are available for purchase here (reminder: patrons get a discount with the code PATREONSTAR) and I put together a small number of 5 zine bundles if you want to get it with other previous zines.
I'm also sending copies to Tranquil Star patrons so expect another email from me if you support me at that level.
As always thank you so much for your support and thank you for following along with these art making adventures!
Federico :)
