99/100 - Opossum and bird friend

It seems like the perception of the North American Opossum is trending upwards and I'm happy to contribute even in a very small way. I get that the opossum isn't the most glamorous animal but it has a lot going for it: prehensile tails, the only marsupial north of Mexico, thumbs on their hind legs, resistant to snake venom, persimmons are one of their favorite foods, and they have 13 nipples arranged in a circle of 12 with one in the middle.
Ok, that last one is a bit questionable as a positive attribute but I bet you didn’t know about it. There are also some surprising facts about the shape of their genitals (have fun googling that), they live surprisingly short lives (only about two years in wild), and they look super goth (this is a positive one) with those fingerless black gloves and dark eyeshadow. In short: weird but extremely delightful.
I give the North American Opossum, AKA the Virginia opossum 4.5 out of 5 stars in the very short book of reviews of wildlife I see regularly (of which you have just read the first 176 words).
This penultimate entry for the 100 day project is 2.5" by 4". Available here(sold). I hope you get to admire an opossum soon enough. :)
