78/100 - Turtle head, quiet night
There is an image seared in my mind from a children's book I had when I was a kid. I don't think it's especially meaningful and it's closer in nature to an earworm. It comes from a story where a horse, a dog, a cat and a rooster need to do something together and at some point they form a pyramid with the rooster on top of the cat, on top of the dog, on top of the horse. Like a sort of totem pole. There is something pleasant about animals that seem unlikely to work together forming a cohesive unit, like animal-spirit collage.
I think I try to recreate that image in different ways, it's like making distorted portraits of a found object. Today's turtle, dragon, astronaut head is a direct descendant of of the rooster, cat, dog, horse. And I don't think I'm any closer to understanding its significance.
