4/100 - Inside

I listened to Irish poet Pádraig Ó Tuama explain a poem by Leanne O'Sullivan the other day. It was about a nurse named Fionnuala. I didn’t know anything about Leanne O'Sullivan or about the deep mythology behind Fionnuala's name (a child turned into a swan by her stepmother, cursed to wander the lakes and rivers of Ireland), but my enjoyment of the poem increased greatly with the explanation. The mystery wasn't lost.

Perhaps it is more interpretation than explanation, but in any way that experience did encourage me to to tell you about this drawing without fear of ruining it for you. The character started as a 3 dimensional model I made recently. I was being playful so I embedded a doodle I had made on a piece of wood into its chest:

When it was drawn in 2D I felt the composition wasn't quite right so I added the triangle in the background. The obvious thing to say is that the character is looking into itself, in the metaphorical sense. What's in there is weird, it might be looking back at you (see that eye?), it could be other. And what about the triangle? A symbol of change.

Is looking inside a form of change, a prerequisite of change, a harbinger of change? Most likely something I'm trying to tell myself.

This one is a bit bigger than previous ones at 3.75" by 4". Purchase link here(update: sold). I hope I'm not sounding like a rambling madman.
