37/100 - Bewildered big robot

This drawing feels really small in person. My intention in making the wood pieces so small was to force myself to simplify things, but I've found that I try to cram the same amount of detail regardless of size. As if I'm following some unwritten law.
I've followed the road of small things for a while even though I'd like to make bigger things. This is due to lack of space but also lack of pressure. If most of your audience will see things on a screen there is not a strong incentive to go bigger. It's also easier to photograph smaller things, put smaller things on the mail, etc. And the shows I get invited to also favor a certain size restrictions.
Part of me thinks these are mostly excuses, if I really wanted to make bigger things I would be making bigger things, facing the fear of bigger risks and failures. There is also room for the attention to detail I treasure so much in bigger things. One optimistic view is that my approach is to make something bigger out of small pieces, one at the time, one day a the time. Perhaps I've been doing it along.
This aspirational big robot in a small package is 2" by 2.5". Available here(sold).
