11/100 - Inner space

After drawing yesterday's spaceship I wondered about the subject for a while. Why spaceships? As far as I can remember I spent a lot of time building Lego spaceships when I was a kid. And about any vaguely machine shaped object was a stand in for one when playing. I think texture has a lot to do with it. There is such a visual joy in a complex jumble of undefined parts that are all attached together, at least conceptually being part of a whole. I think construction equipment and imaginary spacecraft were equally cool to my younger self for this reason. And naturally Star Wars helped it along with its greeble infested designs.
Drawing machines is also just fun. Silly spacecraft are funner because there are less restrictions and you don't have to explain your add-ons too much. Plus you get that extra infusion of weirdness that comes from conjuring space, the unknown, aliens, stars and distant planets.
I think drawing spaceships is how I let myself feel like a kid again.
This imaginary spacecraft is 3.5" by 3" and you can purchase it here(sold).
