Adam Savage\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/JL3uZ88vA_0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">suggested something similar<\/a>\u00a0as a custom workbench lamp.<\/p>\n<p>My first attempt to make some arms was too simple and flimsy so I decided to replicate the classic design of the posable lamp base with materials I had at hand. I got some inspiration from a design by Matthew Phillips I found on Instructables (he also provides\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mattphillipsshaw.com\/usb-articulating-lamp.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">cut files<\/a>\u00a0if you wanna go that way). He used rubber bands instead of springs which I thought was pretty clever.<\/p>\n<p>I drew mine from scratch because I wanted a specific size and I had a bunch of\u00a0<span class=\"hashtag\">#8-32<\/span>\u00a0screws to assemble it.
